[ This phrase would be heard by Gorgug as Henry freezes time around them. He pauses to really mull over the question. He's always felt a little bad how he'd go quiet as he thinks about what people are telling him, and now he has the time (or frozen time) to really think about his responses. Or maybe, this is the power of conversation telling him he should stop time to give a sincere response.
[ Gorgug stares, completely oblivious, time frozen or not, the thoughtful pondering that Henry puts into his question.
His hands nearly move, though, an urge to copy that 'T' pose Henry made, but Gorgug is resisting. He is, however, completely distracted from what he was going to say or thinking.
But, nevertheless: ] I never noticed you struggled to say things before.
[ He pauses to give a smile. Carrying on a conversation, yes, remembering when to put in proper actions is its own reward (and challenge). ]
Usually, all the words feel really stuck -- [ He taps his head. ] -- so I feel a lot better about how things are going.
[ His eyes widen. ] Like I've been meaning to ask you what your favorite color was, but wasn't sure how to approach it naturally. This isn't it, but I can ask you and let you know that I also find this odd. [ Winning! ]
The spirit of conversation tells him that he shouldn't say he's like that with everyone. Regardless if that is true or not, that's not a way to make a conversation - that's a way to have an argument. That's not conversing. He's confused by his ability, but the sensations that it gives him feel right. ]
[ That's an ending statement and unhelpful, says the power of conversation. ]
I talk to people that seem like they need help, but I don't talk much to people. [ A beat. ] But now I have this ability that'll make it so I can talk to people.
I think it's working all right? Do you think it is?
I don't know, [ he admits. He finds something is making him put off, but he can't pinpoint the reason (the T pose??). And regardless, even if Henry does or doesn't talk to him: ] But I already knew you don't talk to me before I texted you, so nothing's changed.
[ It's that simple! ]
I guess I-- can help you try out your power. [ ... ] Are you sure it's a power...?
[ It's not, like... a gas leak in his apartment? ]
I hope you don't think that meant I didn't care about you.
[ Oh! That's a good statement and one he wanted to make. 'Cause he does care! A lot! He also just ends up staring at walls for days on end, but he probably shouldn't bring that up to anyone, really. ]
I think it's a power! [ A cheery response. Oh, he sounds cheerful, he should smile. He does - it's faint and only slight movement to his face. Good job! ] It's certainly not something I was able to do before.
[ Wow. Maybe it is a power, even though Gorgug watches Henry, and he isn't sure what to make of it. Has Henry never been like this? Does he recall? He seemed lost to Gorgug, but he also met him in his earlier days, and-- Gorgug can't say. It's hard to figure out... Henry continues to be an enigma.
But it is nice to hear someone say they care about you. Even if Gorgug looks unsure after the fact, it's not about that. But, he does nod. ]
Okay. [ Now Gorgug is the one to stand there, trying to recall... ] Did you say-- I think we talked about you being a photographer?
I honestly don't remember much about my life, but I do think I was a photographer. [ Henry blinks. He supposes that's the best way to put it. Otherwise, it'd be kind of dishonest to say anything else. ] And we killed a book together when we first met.
It really left an impression on me. It made me think that you're capable and you'll do what you can to make sure other people are safe, too. [ Wow. He's so proud of his words! If he spoke before, he's sure he'd say something that gave this impression but isn't sure if he'd be able to say it fully. ]
