i'm okay. i had a question but it was your first big mission that wasn't a weird library so i don't know if you have feelings about that?

i'm okay. i've been thinking about some stuff and wanted to check on you before this next mission. aurora said it's going to be pretty bad, and... i know you fight ghosts and go to town on paper murderers, but how good would you rank your survival skills in general?

( on the other end of this message is the sounds of heather nearly crying, sniffling and swallowing down her tears. while henry was probably not the best person to turn to given how stiff he could be—

he had practically twisted heather’s arm into confiding with him about things. not that she disliked that by any means, she was just unsure of how much he could take. )

The person…that woman’s here. I never told you about her but she she…did something terrible to my daddy.

[ The way she sounds -- he doesn't sound anymore hurried than he did before. ]

... [ There's a part of him that wants him to ask what happened, but does that matter? She's been so strong and doing her best for others. To have her relive it by telling him, he isn't sure that's something he needs. What he knows is she's hurt and the person who hurt here is here. ]

... want me to talk to her? [ Heather's father isn't here. He's sure she has other adults that will look after her, too. But she came to him. He wants to do what he can and if that means offering a few threatening words to someone; he'll attempt it. ]

( with her lower lip trembling and whimpering like a child, the skin of her cheeks was radiating hot. she was embarrassed to finally be falling apart like this, and while she didn't know it—

she had been robbed of that chance back in silent hill. now with claudia here and the reminder of someone so precious to her passing, she could only turn to those who knew her deeply and while henry didn't know all the details.

She can't be reasoned with, she's insane. She's one of them, a member of that cult. You can threaten her, beat her down all you like but she's like a child....a murderous child.

( it was a view she had always held even when she was alessa. claudia was truly so feeble and childlike even now. )

[ Henry has that thought as Henry often does about how to answer this question. As far as "what's up," he's still alive which is good. He still is uncertain why his rating is as high as it is, but he isn't going to question that too much. Somehow, something about him is "fun." He appreciates he comes off as fun, but that's neither here nor there.

Should he mention that he has a fake girlfriend? Gorgug told him he's dating someone. It seems like it'd be rude not to say that he has a fake girlfriend since that seems kind of an important piece of information? Or is it not? He isn't sure. It seems like it's something. And if he says it isn't very important, is that saying Maria isn't very important? But he likes Maria - she's a very nice and patient friend to have.

But is that making a fake relationship seem kind of a big deal? Also should he tell Gorgug that it's fake? He already told someone else that he's dating someone, and he didn't tell her that it was fake. Granted, that was when they met around a lot of people, so it would have sounded bad and caused trouble for Maria if he said that it was fake. Right? Probably ... right.

His expression doesn't change as he stares ahead thinking of how to answer this very simple question. ]

( it had taken inara sometime to become adjusted to her new life here and while there was some uncertainty about just how long she was to be held captive and just how she was going to prove her world was worth saving, she knew one thing above all else—

it didn't hurt to have allies. although he was a strange man that left her wondering what exactly his deal was, she could sense there was some kind of kindness that lurked beneath the surface. he could be trusted, he could be a friend and given his kind words in their first interaction, it was time for her to repay the favor. )

[ An unknown amount of time has passed since he got the message. He blinks; he realizes he's been staring at the wall in his bathroom. He thought that he heard something knocking on the inside - and he waited. He waited to see if a hole would manifest. How long had he been standing there? Did he do anything else? He -- he thinks he did.

Blinking, he reaches for his device before seeing the message. Inara?

His gaze drifts down before back up to the wall. Nothing's changed. It must have been his imagination. Okay. Good. ]

Hi, Inara. I'm sorry. I was -- um, anyway -- I'm available if you still are?

( strangely enough, given this world and all of it's interesting sights and people, inara could barely remember when she had sent the message. for all she knew, it could have been months, minutes, days? who could tell.

all that mattered was that he eventually did return her call and she returned it with a soft smile on her face, wearing a long peach colored satin dress in the video. the technology was a bit more rough than some of the stuff she had seen home but it was easy enough to use. )

That's quite alright Henry, I wanted to discuss a few things with you. Namely being I know you were pretending to date Maria, she told me. You don't have to lie anymore for my sake.

[after this thread with Inara, Maria instantly rushes to message Henry. she feels really bad because Inara is right. Henry needs help, companionship, and she worries she's failed on that front.

[ Wow. He's getting so many messages. This is nice. He really does have very nice friends. "Heather Mason." Yes, he remembers her name. It'd be unfortunate if he forgot the name of the person who saved him. There is a lot that happened to her and he's happy that he can be a source of comfort.

He stares at the message. Blinks. ]

yeah I know it's a bit silly but you matter a lot to me far beyond just being friends you know? I mean we come from the same world after all you know? that means something....

anyways I've been okay just trying to put the whole claudia thing out of my mind you know? I moved in with gorgug, riz, and fabian for a bit so I've mostly just been going into charronway for the deli. and really? nothing at all? okay, wanna hang out sometime?
